The Midfield Satellite Concourse’s (MSC) IS-5474 Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) industrial substation will serve as the location for the primary electrical feed, housing LADWP transformers and LAWA’s switchgear. The substation has an open yard 71 feet wide and 282 feet long enclosed by 24-foot-high cast concrete wall. The yard will contain LADWP transformers and high voltage breakers. LAWA switchgear steel building that abuts the LADWP yard to the south. The LADWP substation project also includes the installation of a communications duct-bank that will require coordination with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
KKCS’ Area Manager is responsible for reviewing contractor potential change notices and change order requests; issuing field and change directives; taking project photos; and presenting project status updates at bi-weekly stakeholder meetings. KKCS coordinates with LADWP for construction related activities and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) during the integration of communications duct banks into the substation and assists the Project Manager in overseeing civil utilities. KKCS also arranges coordination meetings with airfield operations for the temporary shutdowns and attends weekly civil utilities and pull plan meetings.
