The Purple Line Extension is a critically important heavy rail project that will provide a high-capacity and high-speed alternative for commuters to travel between Downtown Los Angeles, the Miracle Mile, Beverly Hills, and Westwood. From the current terminus at Wilshire/Western, the Purple Line Extension will extend westward for about nine miles and add seven new stations, providing easy access to the region’s second-largest job center. Travel time between Downtown Los Angeles and Westwood is expected to be about 25 minutes. The project is being built in three sections with the first section now under construction and scheduled for completion in 2023. Section 2 of the Purple Line Extension will extend the subway to downtown Beverly Hills and Century City. Section 3 will then extend the project to two stations to Westwood.
KKCS has been involved from the Alternative Analysis Phase of the entire alignment and currently during construction of Section 1. During the Alternative Analysis Phase, KKCS provided estimating and scheduling services including preparing a Capital Cost Methodology Report that addressed the methodology for estimating various project alternatives including light rail, heavy rail, bus rapid transit, and no build options. During the Preliminary Engineering Phase, KKCS provided cost and resource control, scheduling, cost estimating, specification review, and AutoCAD services. As a member of the construction management team, KKCS is providing project controls, document control, and utility inspection services.
KKCS is responsible for preparing independent cost estimates for professional services, utility relocations, support of excavation, traffic control, street decking, stations, and tunnel construction for Section 1.
