Sound Transit Northgate Link Extension - Roosevelt Station
KKCS is currently providing project management oversight (PMO) services, on behalf of FTA, for Sound Transit's $1.9 billion Northgate Link Extension. Scheduling Managers Derec Persaud and Kevin Byers are pictured at a key component of the project, the Roosevelt Station.
Sound Transit's Northgate Link Extension (NLE) alignment includes about 3.5 miles of twin bored tunnels and 0.8 miles of at-grade and elevated double-track running from the existing University of Washington Station north to the Northgate Mall. The NLE project includes two cut-and-cover stations along the tunnel alignment (University District Station and the Roosevelt Station) and one elevated station at Northgate Mall. At the south end of the alignment, the twin tunnels will connect to the existing University Link Project at the University of Washington Station.
KKCS' provides PMO services during the construction phases of the project, including cost estimation and Project Management Plan (PMP) and Quality Assurance Plan reviews that resulted in recommendations that Sound Transit adopted. KKCS recommended that Sound Transit create a master schedule that is loaded with the integration personnel and other resources for the railway and building systems for all light rail extension projects currently in construction, to enhance the management of Sound Transit’s rail activation and project transition department activities and staff resources across four or more multi-billion projects.
