FTA PMO Region IX - Valley Metro Rail (VMR) South Central Light Rail Extension

The project is a five-mile extension from the existing line in Downtown Phoenix on Central Avenue and 1st Avenue to a terminus at Baseline Road. It includes the construction of seven stations and the purchase of 17 light rail vehicles. The Operations and Maintenance Center Expansion Project (OMC Expansion) will expand the existing OMC and yard from its current capacity of 50 light rail vehicles to accommodate the additional vehicles needed for the Tempe Streetcar project, additional demand on the current system, and the South Central, Northwest Phase II, and Capitol/I-10 West Phase I projects. VMR estimates that approximately 100 vehicles will be accommodated by the expansion.

In a subcontractor capacity, KKCS is performing scheduling and risk management services. Responsibilities include reviewing VMR’s master schedule and the contractor’s construction cost-loaded schedule and preparing schedule and cost analysis reports in accordance with FTA OP 34 procedures and performing schedule and cost risk simulation (top down, bottoms up/Monte Carlo) in accordance with FTA OP 40 procedures.
