ACECs Become an Engineer

Mar 16, 2014. Posted in Announcements

ACEC, in conjunction with Caltrans, annually sponsors the Become an Engineer program designed to engage high school students in a career in engineering. Engineering professionals volunteer to present a PowerPoint program which covers the different branches of engineering. In February, Joanne Kulachok, PE, of KKCS Los Angeles office presented to three groups of students at Venice High Schools Engineering Design class.

With a total of approximately 60 students, Joanne tailored the presentation to include examples of engineering projects in the school and the local area. Some of the local projects included the extension of the Metro Exposition Line which is under construction and has closed lanes on Venice Boulevard, as well as the Silver Lake Reservoir, a new reservoir that will supply drinking water to
Angelinos. As the Construction Quality Manager on the Silver Lake Reservoir, Joanne presented aerial photos of the progress of construction on the site.
